Being part of a theater company is one of the best things in my life. One day you are yearning and enjoying rehearsals thinking you never want this feeling to end.
After several weeks of rehearsals and opening around the corner, you want the show to be over with. Then when it's done, you don't want it to be and the final strike is just moments away. A set stage you have practically lived on through a week's worth of performances suddenly gone. I will miss the music, my role and everyone with the company. I know I will see them again in the future. Can the final strike really make someone so sad? Was the heat not enough? Was it that there was no air conditioning? Or a million costume changes in less then two hours even when wool was involved? Those are the little things I do not miss. Like all productions, there are people who you love and people you want to throw down the stairs, but just smile and nod, wish them well with their future and move on. If you love something you should do it because you love it and not let anything stand in your way. Stop trying to be a perfectionist - the world is an imperfect place. Be you and no one else. You've heard it all before - this is Kristine Knowlton, over and out...
